Rabbi David Sykes studied Torah in the Lakewood Yeshiva and in the Mirrer Yeshiva (Jerusalem and Brooklyn, New York). He received his Rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Zalman Nechemiah Goldberg of Jerusalem.
He received a Ph.D. from Yeshiva University for his work on patterns in the Book of Genesis. He taught Bible, Exegesis, and other Judaic subjects at Yeshiva University for ten years, and, also, at Stern College for Women for five of those years. Then, fifteen years ago, Rabbi Sykes moved with his wife to Monroe, New York, in the scenic Hudson Valley. Rabbi Sykes became acquainted there with the nearby Chassidic community, which has opened up for him a whole new world of knowledge about the neshamah and Jewish spirituality.
Since moving to Monroe, Rabbi Sykes has given classes about a wide range of Jewish topics to diverse Jewish audiences. He is also a Torah reader and speaks about the weekly Torah portion. He has developed and employs the “Personal Trainer Method”, empowering people to develop their own abilities to study the Talmud. In the summer, he teaches about Judaism to boys and girls between the ages of eight and fifteen in a nearby Jewish sleep-away camp. For the past fourteen years, Rabbi Sykes has been a professional, Torah-based, intuitive life-purpose coach, dealing with spiritual growth and life-path issues.
